Alex Kotowicz's Estate Etc.

Hello, my name is Amanda Kotowicz. I am the granddaughter of Alex Kotowicz and I was his caregiver as well as the caregiver for his wife, Cecile. I am holding this fundraiser, not to pay for my grandfather's funeral costs, since thankfully that was covered, but the costs of helping my grandmother settle his estate, paying off his debts, and even helping to fix up our home.

My grandfather was 81 when he died about two weeks ago. He did not have a will, so I am helping my grandmother take care of everything by contacting everyone, including debts he owed and monthly bills, to get everything settled.

He had two major debts; a car loan balance of $6,500 and a credit card balance of $3,100. These are two of my major concerns since I need a vehicle to get to and from work, as well as run errands for my grandmother such as grocery shopping, going to the bank etc.

Another concern is the state of the mobile home I live in with my grandmother now. The shingles need to be replaced, and an estimate was given for about $6,000. The side of the mobile home needs to have sliding replaced and possibly some plywood and 2x6s, since there is one window that leaks and needs to be fixed, along with a couple of 2x6s in the front that seemed to have been damaged inside the wall. I have estimated the cost of this (after spending far too much time on various home hardware store websites) to be about $2,000.

And lastly, there is the matter of other expenses, such as a lawyer or other fees that may come up and we may need to pay in the course of settling my grandfather's estate. I estimate this to be about $4,000, since lawyers are not cheap and having glanced at the fees the court's charge, those are not either. I would also like to fix the entire sliding of the mobile home since I already have to replace the side and front, and I have estimated this to be about $3,500. I know that we may have to end up selling the mobile home and this would certainly help get a better price, but it is more cosmetic than a need, other than the parts I have stated above.

I am going to end this by saying that I wish I could provide all this for my grandmother and not have to turn to this site, but sadly I can't. I have applied for several part-time positions and a couple of full-time ones, that are mostly remote/working from home since my grandmother needs my attention and care more than ever now. My grandfather had wished to take care of all this when he was alive. He had been saving his income tax return this year for the shingles as was I, but he got sick and was hospitalized, leading me to take off work, so the money that had been set aside for shingles went to paying bills, gas, and hospital parking.

Saying that anyone that gives any amount, I am so thankful to you and your kindness. I am just trying to do everything I can to help my grandmother through this and also execute my grandfather's last wishes. No words will ever express how thankful I will be to anyone who finds it in their heart to give.
