My name is Sergio, and I’m the owner of the Junior Ducks Hockey Club. I’m starting this GoFundMe on behalf of the Garneau family after the sudden and tragic loss of Alex Garneau.

Alex was so much more than a hockey mom. She was a massive part of our Ducks family and the hockey community. She was always there helping, organizing, supporting the kids, travelling with us and doing whatever she could for the people around her. She was the type of person who brought warmth to a room simply by being there.

Alex leaves behind her husband Jordan and their two beautiful children, Josie and Jackson. Hockey has been a huge part of this family’s life. Jackson has played with our Junior Ducks as well as the HPL Kings, Pacific Selects in Vancouver and the HPL Lumberjacks in the spring. Josie is also part of the hockey community and plays in the 2015 age group. Over the years, so many of us have spent countless hours with this family at rinks, tournaments, hotels and travelling together. They truly are part of our hockey family.

Following the tragic accident in Prince George, their lives changed in an instant.

There are simply no words for what this family is going through right now. Nothing we raise can ever replace Alex or take away their pain, but we can come together to help take some of the financial pressure off Jordan and the children and allow them to focus on each other during the incredibly difficult days, months and years ahead.

The hockey community is a small community. We compete against each other on the ice, but when something like this happens, we are one family.

I’m asking everyone from the bottom of my heart, hockey families, coaches, teams, friends, businesses and anyone who hears Alex’s story, please donate whatever you can. No amount is too small. If you’re unable to donate, please share this fundraiser and help us reach as many people as possible.
