You may have heard through the Napa-grape-vine that Alejandro “Alex” Gaona is in the hospital. We wanted to let you know he was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma cancer on Valentine’s Day. It started as chest pain which affected his breathing, so his mom took him to Centralia Hospital. They immediately transported him by ambulance to PeaceHealth Southwest Hospital in Vancouver.

Alex has a tumor growing in his chest. Because the mass is so close to his heart, doctors opted not to operate to remove it. They will start aggressive chemotherapy on Feb. 18th. Of the 2 main types of lymphoma that attack your immune system, Hodgkin lymphoma and Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Alex has Hodgkin lymphoma.

For those of you who don’t know Alex, he is 19, graduated this past June from Napavine High School and started college this fall. Alex is an amazing young man who puts family and friends first. With his quiet nature, megawatt smile and huge heart, Alex is a genuine soul that embraces life and all those who know him.
