Hi my name is Lori Taylor-Morgan, I’m helping raise funds for young Alex B. from Orland, Ca, on behalf of his beloved grandmother Lyn Dorenzo. This fundraiser will help Alex’s family with much needed support for ongoing travel expenses, loss of work income, food, and ongoing household bills. Alex’s and his family have been trying to keep their heads above water now for over 3 years. It’s time to reach out and ask for financial support. I hope you will find it in your heart’s to donate to this beautiful family in need. No amount is too small, we thank you for your consideration in advance.
Here’s Alex’s story, shared by Sarah Miller his mother.
Alex was diagnosed with kidney disease in March of 2020. Due to the events that unfolded with Covid-19 all chaos broke loose. Sarah and Fritz, her husband, had just married in January of 2020.
Sarah has 4 children and Fritz has 2 grown children. Needless to say, our world has been an emotional roller coaster since March of 2020.
Alex’s kidney disease is genetic and quickly went from stage 3 to needing a transplant or kidney failure. Alex was dying right in front of us. He was diagnosed at 15 years old and received his kidney transplant before his 16th birthday.
There were complications during surgery so another emergency surgery was performed.
He recovered from the kidney transplant and then was having pain and was tired again. We couldn’t understand because we thought the kidney transplant would make him better! November of 2022 Alex had emergency surgery and then was diagnosed with cancer. It is a complication from being a transplant recipient. Alex spent Christmas in the hospital and I wasn’t sure if he was going to make it.
We have spent many days in the hospital for surgeries and procedures. We have had to drive to UC Davis Children’s Hospital for so many Dr. appointments, tests and procedures that I have lost count.
Sarah started studying to obtain her real estate license. Sarah was getting ready to launch her career in real estate when Alex was hospitalized and diagnosed with cancer.
Both Sarah and Fritz may need to change paths at this point however, the focus is Alex and getting to his many Dr. appointments, Chemotherapy appointments and ongoing treatments.
Most medical is covered however, travel expenses back and forth to Sacramento, food and lost financial opportunities is a challenge while also trying to raise other children.
We are forever grateful for generous family and friends who have given in the past. We could not have made it this far without your support. The problem is the journey is longer than what any of us would have anticipated. We truly don’t know at this point what the future holds as we are living one day at a time.
We Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
Warmly,
Alex, Sarah and Family
