Financial Relief for Alex Calder, a Full Time Caregiver

Hello, I am Will Green, a retired physician in Sacramento, CA and I am setting up this GoFundMe page for my friend, Alex Calder, a caregiver. Alex became disabled due to lumbar spinal stenosis and deterioration of his lumbar spine.

For the last seven years Alex has been working as a caregiver and helping in the physical activities of several different kinds of patients in our community. The patients suffered dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s or were recovering from strokes. Alex has worked with them even through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Unfortunately, in the last three years, Alex’s health started to decline due to his lumbar spinal stenosis.

Eventually, Alex got a laminectomy and nerve ablation procedure. Unfortunately, these have failed to relieve his pain and improve his functional capacity.

Now, he is in chronic pain again, and can only stand and or sit for brief periods of time. He is unable to be gainfully employed.

He is currently out of his savings and facing homelessness in the next few weeks if he can no longer pay for rent, utilities, etc.
