Alex Butler

As many of you know, Alex was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 and underwent a 10 hour surgery on October 28 to remove a large cancerous teratoma and residual masses; this following a summer of chemotherapy.  He was pronounced cancer free but not without complications.  One kidney was removed during the surgery, and his remaining kidney is not working at full capacity, which has meant going to a dialysis facility 3x/week.  This is exhausting for Alex, Mark and Kathy and typically leaves Alex feeling nauseous.   Alex also has residual neuropathy pain in his hands from the chemotherapy. Also due to a blood clot following surgery he has reduced feeling in his foot and constant nerve pain.  
The Butler family has been so strong through all of this, despite numerous set-backs.  Mark and Kathy have lost much time at their jobs throughout this journey, and the medical expenses continue (including dialysis, necessary medications to manage side effects etc.)  
Unless Alex's kidney function returns to normal, he is facing a kidney transplant in the future and the cost of that surgery is $400K.
