On Thanksgiving day, Alex, Merli and Mia were at Carnegie riding dirtbikes and enjoying the holiday together as a family. In the afternoon, Mia climbed a tree, the same tree she had climbed earlier in the day. She fell 15 feet from the tree and suffered severe injuries. In a remote part of the area and without cell reception, Alex got help, and Mia was airlifted to Oakland Children's hospital. Mia underwent surgery Friday and will recover in the hospital for the next few days.

Funds raised will help cover Mia's medical bills and other expenses for Alex and Merli during her recovery.
