Alex and Dani and the Lismore floods

If you don't know these two legends in this photo, let me introduce them to you. Everyone, meet Alex and Dani, Alex and Dani, meet everyone.

 

For those unfamiliar with this couple's story, let me try to summarise them in this simple expression: others-centred.

 

Since I first met Alex and Dani, they have consistently shown to be the kind of people who always think of others first. If you are trying to guess how we met, you guessed right if you thought we met because they decided to show kindness to me by inviting me to spend Christmas with them, even without knowing me from a bar of soap, so that I wouldn't spend Christmas by myself.

 

Having said that, I am far from being the only recipient of this couple's generosity. Whilst I could list numerous circumstances where they have put other people's needs before their own, for now, let me illustrate what I mean by telling you this fundraiser's quick story.

 

Alex and Dani live in Lismore and have a business that is the fruit of a lifetime of hard work and dedication. Innova Performance, which is the name of their business, is not only their main source of income, but it is also their chosen path to gain their Australian Permanent residency.

 

The sad story here is this: they lost almost everything in their business because of the historic floods that hit Lismore and its surroundings last week. The whole building where they had their exercise physiology clinic and equipment was under water, and, once the waters receded, the destruction was total.

 

When I contacted them to find out how they were doing and if we could help with anything, instead of finding them lamenting, which they would've had all the right to be doing, I found them, once again, helping others. They were busy feeding refugees, assisting people who needed to be tapped up to keep protected against injuries as they worked in the destruction caused by the floods. Once again, they were not even thinking about setting up a crowdfund to help themselves in their losses.

 

So this is why I am here to ask you to consider helping this fantastic couple who are always too busy caring for others to have enough time to care for themselves.

 

The money raised in this campaign is going exclusively to cover Alex and Dani's living expenses for the next few months until they are back on their feet. They have also decided to commit to the statement below

 

"Any money raised over and above their needs will be used to purchase food vouchers for the community affected by the floods in Lismore".

 

Those who have always helped others are now in need of our help.

O Alex e a Dani moram em Lismore e eles tem um business que e fruto de uma vida inteira de muito trabalho e dedicação.
