Alessandro's Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
On July 4, 2018 Alessandro was diagnosed with stage 3 gastric cancer. He decided to put up his best fight. Immediately, chemotherapy was started. He suffered allergic reactions and many horrible side effects which ended him up in the hospital. During his admission they accidently found multiple pulmonary embolisms. The team decided to remove the part of his stomach that had tumors and immediately begin blood thinners. He stayed in the hospital for about a month. After a 6.5 hour surgery, a confident surgeon and negative pathology results we were told dad looks cancer free! A huge weight off our shoulders. He then continued to do a few more cycles of chemo to make sure they killed every cancer cell.
A couple months pass and dad felt a bump in his belly that felt like a hernia. We immediately made an appointment to see his oncologist and surgeon. Fast forward a few days and turns out dad's cancer is back and has spread. After many tears and a few good jokes, (if you know dad he always has a good joke), he decided he wanted to continue to fight. His oncologist decided to try immunotherapy. So every 3 weeks for the past year dad has been getting keytruda infusions. They seemed to be working. Every CT scan was stable and side effects were tolerable( except the crazy rash). We had a few good months and then his blood count started dropping which led to blood transfusions. After a endo/colonoscopy we were told dad's cancer spread to his colon. The latest CT scan shows all his tumors have grown(stomach, liver, intestines, abdominal wall).
After yet another heavy crying session and a few less jokes, dad decided to try his last option which is another chemo drug. Unfortunately, since his infusion on Thursday, dad hasn't left bed. He feels extremely weak and has other side effects.
He is unable to work at this time and if you know my father you know how tough, that alone, is for him. He has always been a hard worker and never asked for anyone's help. But it's ok to ask for help sometimes.
All of the donations will be used to offset all of the medical bills that my father is receiving.
Thank you for reading & thank you so much for any donation! Please keep dad & our family in your prayers.
Dad, we all love you so much!
