This GoFundMe campaign was launched for those who have asked how to make monetary donations to support Alesha while she is unable to work and care for herself. The biggest misconception is that people involved in motor vehicle accidents come out on top with loads of money. That couldn't be farther from the truth in this instance. Health insurance and Auto Insurance companies are the hardest to get anything out of and right now there is no payout and many medical related things we will have to figure out a way to cover. Alesha experienced a catastrophic motor vehicle accident resulting in a spinal cord injury, classified as a functional/mobility impairment secondary to T9 ASIA impairment scale She was admitted to Sheperd Center in Atlanta, Georgia on January 8th, 2019 for further medical management and to assess physiological impairments to initiate all aspects of acute rehabilitation including but not limited to: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreational Therapy, Case Management, Rehab Nursing and Neuropsychology. She is expected to be discharged from the Sheperd Center as early as February 26, 2019. In the past patients with these type of catastrophic injuries would be afforded inpatient care for 4-6 months, but unfortunately its no longer that way. Alesha will transition to Shepherd Center's intensive outpatient rehab Spinal Cord Day program. As a result of her spinal cord injury, she is unable to stand, walk, transfer or negotiate steps without assistance. She is wheelchair bound and will need caregiver assistance from her mother and support system. This type of life change will not only effect Alesha's employment, but her mothers so that she can be available to care for Alesha.
Funds will assist with paying bills, car payment & insurance premium, housing, medical treatment, therapy, counseling, rehab, adapting to life in a wheelchair. There is no amount too little and it means a lot that people want to donate from the heart to support Alesha and relieve some of the financial strain so she can focus on her recovery.
Now this is not a letter begging for anything, it’s just a simple cry out for people of faith to gather together and tap in to all the resources we can to help a family that is in great need.
Blessings we are in need of:
1. Looking for people who may know private owners, realtors, friends/family with rental property who will to rent to me with a family of 7. I am in need of a home to be moved into by February 15,2019 so time is CRITICAL!!! I have challenged credit but I pay my rent and utilities on time. Possibly a 4-5-bedroom ranch style with a basement. In need of wide doors that is wheelchair accessible with a walk-in shower in one of the bathrooms. We need the option of special accommodations and/or modifications to add a ramp to get my child in and out of the home.
2. Anyone who may have a MOVING COMPANY and would like to donate a truck for the move.
3. People with resources on gently used handicap bathroom accessories (shower chair) to properly bathe and seat her.
4. Someone who has resources on ordering medical supplies in bulk that may come at a reasonable price. Things of that nature.
5. Anyone with a mini-van for donation or sale (for a special price or payment arrangements) with or without a wheelchair lift. We will need a spacious vehicle to transport Alesha in for therapy and doctor appointments for her continued care.
I am humbling asking for everyone who sees this post to help brainstorm and put our minds and resources together to turn a bad situation into a mighty testimony!
Once again, we thank you all for your love and support at this trying time in our lives. We do believe in the POWER OF PRAYER, so keep interceding on our family’s behalf. We also, know the power of SOCIAL MEDIA and that with a simple click of a button this message can be shared all over the world in a matter minutes. So please SHARE SHARE SHARE this post and let’s keep it going so that we have the opportunity to tap into as many resources as possible.
Thank you and God Bless!
