Reflection on Rwanda Edu. Trip
I have been invited to participate in an educational program called Reflections on Rwanda with SHOUT Canada. This program includes the opportunity to travel to Rwanda with other university students and leaders.
During the trip, we will be in Rwanda visiting historical sites related to the genocide that occurred in 1990. We will be meeting with people who were involved and affected by the genocide. I anticipate this will be an amazing opportunity and I will learn a lot through this hands-on experience.
I decided to apply to this trip because in the future I would like to be a foreign correspondent journalist. I feel this trip will provide an opportunity for me to gain experience in listening to different perspectives of a story in order to gain a broader understanding of a world event through non-judgemental, open questions, and respect for all persons.
This trip is through a grassroots organization. This means the program comes with costs of flights and accommodations while in Rwanda, and because I am a student, I am asking for your help.
I will be in Rwanda in mid-June. Any donation is greatly appreciated and I thank you so much in advance.
As an extra thank-you, any donations $50 or over will receive a newsletter after I return from Rwanda. Any donations over $100 dollars or more will receive a photo from Rwanda with a handwritten thank you.
