Hi everyone!
My name is Alejandra, and I am a Junior, Government major at Smith College. I am also a Tucson youth from a hard working family. I have received generous aid from my college to pursue my education, and I am always looking for new jobs and internships to help expand my horizons.
My work has paid off in many ways, including an opportunity to intern at the NASA Ames Research Center in the Bay Area (Moffett Field, California). This summer, I will be assisting with research on current literature and policies concerning drones, or Human Systems Integration (HSI) and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to be exact. It is an incredible opportunity, but it is also insanely expensive.
I am writing to you to ask for help with funding my internship. My college has generously given me a grant for $2,200 to work as an unpaid intern, but that barely covers my rent on base. Unfortunately, I will not be able to commit to a paid job while at NASA. I am looking for funding to help me with flight fees, local transportation expenses, and food while I am interning in July and August. My goal is to raise $1,500 for these expenses. However, any donation amount will help me!
Your contribution will be used to help support my research and living expenses in the Silicon Valley.
I truly believe that this internship is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It is a dream that I thought was too big for me, but I guess I was wrong. However, I need to make sure that I am in a place where I can confidently say "yes, I can accept this opportunity." Any contribution you make will benefit my learning and work experience.
