Alejandro Salazar's friends and family were shocked to learn of his sudden and unexpected passing on July 19, 2020.  He was a well loved husband, father, son, friend, co-worker and employee, and he leaves behind many people who are struggling to understand and cope with this tragic loss. 

Here in the United States, Alejandro is survived by his wife, Blanca Moreno, his son Jorge Salazar Moreno, and his brother Fernando Salazar.  Born in Mexico, much of his family still lives there including his mother and brothers.

Alejandro has been a valued part of the equine community for over 20 years, and an integral member of the team at Handal Racing for the last three of those.  He was as dependable a guy as you could ever ask for, almost always had a smile on his face, and was always a very hard worker.  He also had a real knack for getting along with horses - they will miss him, too. <3

It is the desire of the family to send Alejandro to Mexico, to be buried at home where his brothers and mother will be waiting to receive him.  The family is also planning on having a wake/visitation here in New York prior to that, and that information will be updated on this page as soon as the date and location are set. 

All the funds raised here will go directly to his family and will be used to help his surviving wife Blanca with the unexpected financial burden that often comes hand in hand with loss - primarily with funeral expenses and transportation to Mexico. 

We are so saddened by the loss of Alejandro.  May he rest in peace.
