Hi, my name is Alejandra, I'm a 30 year old transgender woman from Colombia living in the U.S.

I emigrated from Barranquilla, Colombia 10 years ago and started my gender transition 9 years ago. Being an immigrant makes it harder to achieve certain goals in regards to transitioning and finding resources to help. I'm finally in a place where I feel like I can move forward and ask for help to get the one surgery I've been wanting to have my whole life, my gender confirmation surgery.

Gender dysphoria is tricky, and some days it's easy to deal with but other times it can be very crippling. I'm hoping to get this surgery to move on with my life, ease my mental health and in a lot of ways make living safer in a day to day basis. Being trans and a latina woman puts me at a higher risk of violence and discrimination, and getting this surgery would allow me to navigate my life in a more comfortable way but also it would help align my body with the way it's always meant to be.

A lot of the different aspects in my life have been self-hindered by my inability to get this surgery so far, and being able to go through with it would help me achieve my goals easier in a lot of ways.

The amount that I'm asking to raise would go entirely to covering costs related to gender confirmation surgery, and aid with recovery. Asking for help isn't easy for me, but I will be incredibly grateful to anyone that is able to donate or just share this fundraiser, know that it will forever change my life.
