Alec's Heart Surgery

My name is Shannon and about 10 months ago my step son Alec had an episode where he felt his heart racing but yet he wasn't doing anything strenuous(It had happened before and he didn't say anything). Alec was taken to the Dr to see what was going on and after a few tests they diagnosed him with Wolff-Parkinsin-White Syndrome. Due to the nature of the surgery Alec will have to stay over night in the hospital and it can be very costly. My husband and I do have insurance but it will only cover a fraction of the costs.
Alec will undergo a surgery that will try to repair the extra electrical pathway in the heart on February 21, 2017. The long-term treatment for WPW syndrome is very often catheter ablation. This procedure involves inserting a tube (catheter) into a vein through a small cut near the groin up to the heart area. When the tip reaches the heart, the small area that is causing the fast heart rate is destroyed using a special type of energy called radiofrequency or by freezing it (cryoablation).
Wolff-Parkinsin-White Syndrome is very rare but in any case it is an extra electrical pathway in the heart that causes a rapid heartbeat.
The extra electrical pathway in Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome appears between the heart's upper and lower chambers and is present at birth.
Symptoms most often appear between the ages of 11 and 50 and include a rapid pounding heartbeat, dizziness, and lightheadedness.
