Alec Valenzuela Memorial Service
On February 13th, 2021 our son, Alec Valenzuela, lost his battle with mental illness at the age of 21.
For anyone who met Alec, it was no secret that he was a massive spirit, too big to be confined to this body.
A devoted brother, son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, he had an infectious love for people and unquestionable gratitude for his family.
His uncompromising spirit often left him misunderstood, as his boldness had a way of reflecting in others what they found most confronting about themselves. But it’s also through this that he brought out the best in people and helped to shape us into better versions of ourselves.
Though he battled mental illness and systemic disadvantages, he always strove to live from his spirit, doing his best to embody his respect and love for all living things.
No place was this more true, than when he was expressing himself artistically. Creativity flowed from him endlessly through paint onto canvas, skateboard grip tapes, stickers, and any form of expression he could manage. Our carpets and walls leave echoes of his heartbeat, and those lucky enough to have been tattooed by him will carry a piece of him with them always.
We are immensely grateful for the ways our lives were touched by his light. Alec was truly a wild spirit, not to be tamed by this world.
He is survived by his mother Christine, father Michael, sisters Sheyla and Micaela, brother Aiden, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends that will feel his absence daily.
In lieu of flowers, our family is asking for your support to offset the financial burden brought on by the sudden and tragic end of his young life.
Details about the celebration of his life are forthcoming and will be updated here soon.
