Help raise money in memory of Alec Jarratt.
Our names are Zac Jones and Lee Kempster, and we are from North Wales.
We are hoping to raise money to donate to the NHS Foundation Trust Palatine Ward Department 27 (Christies). All contributions will directly reward the incredible team there. Additionally, a small donation will be made to the neonatal team and staff at Glan Clwyd Hospital. Their care for Alec and the compassion towards their family during such difficult times was outstanding.
The story in brief...
Alec, aged only 38 was diagnosed with Leukaemia in April 2023, this came as a total shock to his wife Jen and their family Jake,Lilly and there two young children Ivy aged 1 and Hattie aged 2 years and Jen being pregnant with their 3rd daughter, Ruby.
The journey began, lots of time spent in hospitals and so much time apart form his family, lots of tears and lots of fingers crossed for the treatments to work for Alec and for him to be able to recover and to see his two babies grow and the birth of Ruby.
Time is flying by, and the roller coaster isn't slowing down! Alec was fighting every single day, always smiling,always laughing and joking. He showed amazing signs of recovering..... everyone was hoping that he was beating this awful disease!
On the 16th of September, 2023, their gorgeous baby girl, Ruby, entered the world. The nurses in Glan Clwyd Hospital took Alec down to the labour ward so that they could be together for the birth.
Alec & Jen, along with family and friends, were all on cloud 9!
The next 6 months were filled with joy, happiness, and of course heartache, chemo treatments & a stem cell transplant were taking their toll on his body. He was tired and weak, and he lost his eyesight, but the fight was still there right to the very end!!
Sadly Alec passed away on March 5th 2024
Our Mission!
Lee and myself are aiming to run the Offas Dyke path from Chepstow to Prestatyn, a total of 178 miles! In no more than 6days in March 2025, this is going to be tough as we aim to do approximately 30miles each day.
So if you are able to sponsor ourselves for this challenge and for us to be able to give a little something back to the staff that helped to support Alec and Jen through such tough times, we would be extremely grateful
