Aleah's Journey: Healing and Rebuilding

Hi, I’m Aleah. I’ve been living on my own in South Carolina for almost 5 years. This past summer, I was in an abusive relationship for about 2 months and accrued enough absences to lose my job, even with doctor's notes. I wasn’t able to get unemployment because they don’t pay unemployment for absenteeism. Now, a week after I lost the job I’ve been at for 3 of these years, I got assaulted. I had a 3-inch cut on my head and a stab wound almost all the way through my calf. I had to go into emergency surgery as soon as I got to the hospital, and this is the result. Now, I’m struggling with my hospital and home bills. Anything would help, really. Anyone who knows me knows this is a last resort.
