On Friday 04/7/2017 at 4 am my Mother Trina Alcala was caught in a house fire. Her entire home caught fire due to a severe wind storm that occurred that morning with winds over 50 mph. Due to the anticipated storm, her oldest son happened to stay over that evening. He was awaken by the smell of smoke and ran to wake up my mom from her bedroom. At this time the attic and roof were engulfed in flames.
The water supply is by well and while attempting to access water they realized the power was out. They were unsuccessful with retrieving any amount of water. With such heavy smoke inhalation and smoke visibility they were unable to locate the fire extinguishers. With defeat my brother ran to the neighbors to contact the fire department for help. Unfortunately, when the local firefighter arrived he was unable to extinguish the fire and before they knew it, the entire home was gone before their eyes. Not one item out of the home was salvageable. They only made it out with the pajama clothing they had on at that time. Due to the high winds, the flames also jumped to the garage and fully engulfed both vehicles. My mom is due to have a knee replacement and has been resistant in going through the treatment. We thank God she hadn't as we are not even sure how she was able to run at that time with her health.
My mother is 71 years old and has lived in our childhood home for over 45 years. She has raised each of her children in this home. The amount of memorabilia, pictures, sports trophies, and keepsakes she has cherished most of her life, are all gone.
Due to issues with insurance rebuild of her home is all out of pocket. My mother has always put everyone before herself and has always radiated nothing but love. It has been devastating to see her displaced and want her to live these years in comfort so she can re-establish her sense of peace.
Any amount donated is a tremendous help.
Thank you for taking the time to read.
