Dear Family and Friends,
It’s never too late for your dreams. I started medical school three years ago, after turning 40. I’m not the average medical student, with a 16-year old daughter to provide for.
I'm currently in my final year as med student at the University of Health Sciences Antigua, and serve with the Puerto Rico Air Force National Guard. My interest is to pursue a medical military career upon graduating from the university.
However, my dream to obtain my MD diploma this year is threatened by the loan programs for my university not being funded. The Reunion Student Loan Finance Corporation is not processing loans for Caribbean medical schools due to lack of funding due to the ReliaMax liquidation, the insurance company that offers private student loan solutions to my university.
I’m struggling with finding out how to pay off student loans and I need help. Figuring out how to pay off med school to finish my career has negatively affected my life and is presenting serious financial trouble for my family.
At this point, I realize that I needed help from my community, friends and family.
The financial barriers face me with $34,922.64, amount owed to the University of Heath Sciences Antigua, to finalize my studies and obtain my MD.
