Hello,
My name is Albert Guillermo, the eldest son of Alberto Guillermo. My father passed away in January of 2023. He unfortunately died at home in his art studio in Calvert, TX alone due to heart issues and was discovered no more than a week later during a welfare check.
I live in Connecticut and had just started a new job while my brother was busy planning a move out of state with his partner. Regular conversation over the phone with my father never included any health concerns so it was extremely jarring to learn of his passing.
Due to the state of Texas having internal issues, I did not get my fathers death certificate until August of 2023. A full 7 months after his passing. Because of this and his lack of a will, his art studio was foreclosed on. Items inside are unavailable to me until a long legal process is completed.
Now that I am able to start this process, I need to go to Texas to sign documents and pick up things left for me elsewhere, including a vehicle. This GoFundMe goal is to cover the cost of fixing this vehicle so I can safely drive it back as well as covering the large cost of cremation and the lesser cost of a celebration of life.
This is meant for friends and family to donate but if you happen to find yourself here and wish to donate, I am extremely grateful. The vehicle repairs (to my knowledge) are estimated to be about $1,100 for the known issues plus $700 for new tires and an unknown amount for more extensive maintenance. The Funeral costs are $1,845 for the cremation services and about $100 for a short memorial/celebration of life. As I am driving the vehicle back to Connecticut, I wish to have these repairs done where it would be least expensive, while also allowing me a safe mode of travel.
More information can be provided to those who ask. Again, I thank anyone who is able to donate to ease some of this burden.
I believe I can handle the Funeral cost myself with a payment plan in place but the other costs must be upfront or I am dead in the water so to speak.
As a stroke of luck, my father made me a secondary admin on his art studio facebook page and it has been my main way of connecting to everyone. You can find it here
