A year ago I decided (unwisely perhaps) to get into the boxing ring against an opponent almost half my age. It was a one time event for me… That is until late 2025 when I was diagnosed with a tennis-ball sized tumour in my head. At that point I committed to getting back into the ring within a year and, thankfully, the tumour turned out to be benign.

True to my word, on 04 April I will be stepping back into the ring. This time I am doing it for to raise money for the boxing club. It is relatively newly formed club and the team (mostly serving army or veterans) are amazing; all coaches give up a significant amounts of their time for free and all go that extra mile from early morning sessions to weekend commitments and absorb the costs of travelling to fights. The community outreach in a very disadvantaged area is incredible.
