Albert Pham

Hi, my name is Dawn Kirby and I am starting this account on behalf of our nursing team at Coram/CVS Specialty Infusion Services in Portland, Oregon.

On the night of 4/19/2023 Albert suffered a cardiac arrest in his sleep at his home in Vancouver, Washington. Albert is 41 years old. He had been feeling sick and coughing for a few days so he decided to isolate from his wife and daughter and was sleeping downstairs. That night his wife and daughter heard the weirdest cough ever and the daughter went down to check on Albert. Thank God she did. He was not breathing so she went to get her mom, Albert's wife. By that time, he was a purple color. She called 911, they were able to give her instructions to perform CPR. She noted as she was giving him CPR that the color started to return to his extremities but his face was still purple. EMS arrived after 4 minutes and took over. It took them 24 minutes to get his heart to beat again and he was transferred to the hospital. He is currently still in the hospital. He is a strong dear man and we pray that he will continue to improve. He does have some occipital brain damage but it is still too early to predict his recovery.

Albert came to this country at the age of 9/10 with his family. They were fleeing Vietnam, where his grandfather was being persecuted. He graduated from Yakima Community College with an associates degree in nursing. But he didn't stop there. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and is currently very close to completing his Nurse Practitioner degree. It is his dream to continue his studies with a doctorate in nursing. To say this man is driven is an understatement. He is a rock star.

Albert is a member of the Army National Guard in Washington. He began his career more than 10 years ago as an enlisted combat engineer and transitioned to the officer corps two years ago as a 2nd Lieutenant. I have had many long conversations with Albert about his desire to serve our country as a citizen who came here in a very difficult way. He feels a strong love and commitment to the United States.

This is the first time I have had the honor to start an account for anyone. Albert transitioned from a full time position at CVS to part time so he could have time to complete his NP studies. Unfortunately, that means his insurance was no longer covering him as it had. No one asked me to do this, but all of those that love him so much feel helpless in this situation. This fund is a way to let us do something to contribute to the life of a great man and a personal hero of mine.

I will update this page as information comes in. I would be very thankful if y'all will share this on your social media platforms and any military sites you see fit to share on. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
