Albert Leon Powell Funeral Expenses

Donation protected
Purpose: Our family is raising funds for the funeral expenses of our beloved brother, Albert Leon Powell. We lost Albert on May 4th, 2023 following a prolonged battle with COVID and its complications. To all who cared for Albert and/or his family, in lieu of flowers we are asking for donations to this Go-Fund-Me account. His desire was to be cremated and laid to rest next to his father in Cross City. As soon as possible, Donna and his sons will travel to Cross City with his remains and a small memorial service will be held. Albert will be sorely missed but not forgotten. We express sincere gratitude to all participants in this fundraiser. Proceeds will be forwarded to his wife, Donna, and will be used for the final expenses of his passing. History: Al was born August 25th, 1946 to Lula Mae Goodson, daughter of Clifton Lee and Ida Goodson of Cross City, FL. His father, Thomas Ray Powell was killed in an automobile accident when he was only 1 ½ years old. Albert enjoyed a happy childhood playing with his older sister, Ruby Lee Butler, cousins, Virgil, Joe, and Gloria Locke, and Bill Crawley. He enjoyed trying to outwit his Granny Powell, sparing with his Uncle C. L. Goodson, and trekking along behind his Granny and Grandpa Goodson in the woods. Albert was particularly proud of his Uncle Leroy Locke, an esteemed educator and Dixie County School Superintendent. Briefly, the family kind of worried that Albert was destined for a life of crime, as he had gotten in trouble with the law for shooting out street lights with his BB-Gun. Thankfully, he saw the error of his ways and walked the straight and narrow after that. Before you know it, Al became interested in girls. He nearly drove his Granny Powell crazy, nickel and diming her of coins to support all his new habits. His Aunt Audrey Nell, drove Al and his 14 year old sweetheart over the Florida/Georgia line and signed for the two of them to get married. Sadly, youth and immaturity caused the end of his first marriage, but not before he became the father of three beautiful little girls, Sharlet Annette, Judy Ann, and Melinda Lynn. Albert had struggles all throughout his life. While in his late 20s he had a large truck accident that left him with traumatic brain injuries. He attempted to hold down several jobs after that, but was suffering with some serious health issues. He never gave up, but he needed a medical support system that would wholly address his needs. He had heard about some things that was offered in Massachusetts and moved his family there. Along his journey Al met his current wife, Donna Buono. Through thick and thin, Donna has remained by his side in Leominster, MA. Together they had two sons, Dylan Frank, and Scott Justin. When COVID hit, all the world went crazy, spiraling the economy out of control. Thousands of people lost their jobs and Donna was one of them. Gone were the benefits that had come with job security. Life insurance was one of them. She had been paying on policies for the two of them for years, now their coverage was gone. To add insult to injury, COVID had now taken Albert from his family. We will miss our dear brother. May God bless each of you. Debra Wallace Crifasi, Sister 15862 Foxwood Ave. Baton Rouge, LA 70816
