Albert Hartnett
Donation protected
Albert was a powerful leader from the Wangkumarra Wonnarua tribes who dedicated his life to being a loving Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Nephew, Partner, and Son.
Born in Bourke in 1967, Albert gently travelled across many nations during his time Earth side, listening to his elders, learning the stories and passing his knowledge onto others
teaching the importance of Country, Kinship and Sovereignty over country. Albert was a truthteller who fought for justice and the rights of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, often standing on the frontline of pivotal protests and making his presence count.
. He gave so much of
himself to the fight for justice, as a well respected keeper of the fire at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy, often forgoing time with his family knowing that it was important to show up and stand up.
His family are committed to fulfilling his final wishes and want to honour his memory and legacy.
We are seeking help towards the costs involved in making Albert's final journey home to Wangkumarra country - where his Farewell Ceremony will take place. Any donation big or small will be greatly appreciated and will contribute towards accommodation, Fuel, Bus hire and food - we have vulnerable elders travelling great distance and we are wanting to make sure thier medical needs are supported as well.
