Barakat [Al-Barakah Academy] is a registered charity based at 10 Highview Parade, Woodford Avenue, Redbridge London IG4 5EP.

We cater to the East London and wider community through various educational, social, and spiritual services under the guidance of Mawlana Dr. Muhammad Saleem Anwar (Lung consultant and a graduate of Islamic Dawah Academy Leicester-UK).

To provide these services, the Academy is finalizing the purchase of the property where it is currently based, at a purchase price of £1.25 million.

What makes this initiative special is the way it brings together different parts of our community:

Led by Professionals with Religious Knowledge – The charity is run by professionals who have also studied religion or are qualified scholars. This unique combination allows them to bridge the gap between professionals and religious scholars, creating a positive and balanced influence in society.

Parent-Child Weekend Madrasah – Now in its 16th six-month session, this program welcomes around 120 students per session. The classes are taught by parents and volunteers, strengthening the bond between parents and children. When parents learn alongside their children, it naturally creates a stronger Islamic environment at home.

Community Services – Volunteers collect food from supermarkets and distribute it to homeless shelters, food banks, and those in need. The charity also provides financial support to widows, orphans, and eligible students through donations and Zakat.

Youth Engagement – Activities like swimming and tennis are organized separately for boys and girls, giving both parents and children a chance to connect in a healthy and halal environment.

Islamic Home Financing Support – The charity helps community members purchase homes in a way that aligns with Islamic financial principles.
