Hi everyone, im the sister of the custodian worker, Tim, found living in the school.
The last few years have honestly been really hard on our family. We’ve been dealing with a lot of things financially, sickness, and just life. It’s been one thing after another, and we’ve been doing our best to get through it together.
A few days ago, a story came out about a custodian living in a room at the school he worked at.
That’s my brother. He has been my biggest supporter all my life, and it breaks my heart that he has been all over the news like a criminal. Surprisingly, most of the comments on the news articles have been so kind, and that gives us hope.
I know a lot of people saw the headlines and the comments, but I wanted to clarify some things.
He wasn’t hurting anyone. He wasn’t stealing or doing anything shady. He was trying to get by when things got really bad. He knows what he did wasn’t okay, and the fact he never told anyone shows he felt shameful.
Tim is a dad to 4 amazing kids (my nephews and niece!). He worked for Hackett Middle School for over 17 years. If you know him, you know how much he cared about that place. He stayed late all the time, helped out wherever he could, and genuinely loved his job. The number of times, over the years, I’ve seen him leave home at 9-10 pm on a snow day to shovel for the kids the next day… That school wasn’t just work to him.
Because of everything that’s happened, he’s had to resign, and now he’s trying to figure out what comes next. He has been looking for a well-paying job that can put him back on his feet to provide for his children, but in the right way.
There is another GoFundMe that reached well past the goal to help him afford an apartment! But everyone knows how hard it is to afford anything these days.
This will go towards everyday life such as food, utilities, and necessities.
If you can help in any way, whether it’s donating or even just sharing this, it really means a lot to our family. If you have job opportunities to share with him, that would be amazing as well!
And if nothing else, I just hope people can take a second to remember there’s a real person behind the story.
Thank you ❤️
