Earlier this week on Tuesday November 26th, my home country of Albania was hit by a devastating 6.4 magnitude earthquake. The earthquake has killed more than 40 people and injured more than 1000, according to the Government. An estimated 100,000 people are affected and around 30,000 need immediate assistance, including 2,500 who are homeless. Aftershocks continue to rock the region and rescuers are still looking for people in the rubble of collapsed buildings.
I, Brahim Lubanoviq, am here today to collect any donations possible. My goal is to raise $5,000. The reason why is because my employer is offering to match any amount up to 5,000 dollars I am able to raise in my name. If we are able to reach this goal of $5,000, we will essentially be donating $10,000! I will personally be receiving all the funds and then donating them to the charities directly. I will take the total amount raised and split the total in half and donate to the following two funds. Once the donation is made I will provide the receipt to my employer and they will match it. 
Just like many of you when donating, I like knowing where my donations are going to. These Donations will be made to UNICEF and the Albanian Red Cross. These were chosen based off my research and my employers matching policy.  Please see below for a general overview of each organization and some links.

UNICEF:
UNICEF is on the ground in Albania, where a 6.4-magnitude earthquake has put kids at risk. UNICEF is providing protection, education and health care to the country's most vulnerable children. Whenever disasters threaten children, UNICEF is there. In 2018, UNICEF responded to almost 300 humanitarian emergencies in 90 countries.

American Red Cross /The international Red Cross / Albanian Red Cross:
The Albanian Red Cross (ARC) is one of the organizations engaging on the grounds, with volunteers actively helping to provide these families with basic clothing items, sanitary products, water, food packages, blankets and temporary sheltering.This fundraiser aims to support such efforts, enabling ARC to purchase these much needed supplies and other emergency relief items to support the victims, until longer-term arrangements can be made.

While we are fortunate enough to spend Thanksgiving and the upcoming holidays with our family, friends and loved ones, the family’s and people affected by the earthquake aren’t. Të marten e 26 Nëntorit 2019 vendlindja ime Shqipëria është goditur nga një termet me magnitud të lartë prej 6.4 shkallë. Ky termet ka vrarë më shumë se 40 persona dhe ka lënduar me mijëra persona të tjerë. Përafërsisht 100,000 persona janë të afektuar nga kjo gjendje e jashtëzakonshme dhe përafesisht 30,000 nga ato i’u duhet ndihmë urgjente, përfshirë këtu edhe 2,500 persona të pa strehë. Tronditjet vazhdojnë të godasin vendin dhe shpëtimtarët po vazhdojnë të kërkojn per njerëz nën gërmadha.
 
Unë jam këtu që të ndihmojë vëllezerit e motrat e mij shqiptarë duke kërkuar nga ju ndonjë donacion të mundshëm. Qëllimi im është të arrij shumën prej 5,000$ . Qëllimi është ky sepse pronari I firmës për të cilën unë punoj ka premtuar që nëse un arrij të mledh shumën prej 5000$, ai do të dhuroj edhe 5000$ të tjera. Kështu që I bie të bëjmë donacion 10,000$!
