Alayna Rose Ashworth is a beautiful, talented pianist, living amidst the gorgeous Black Hills, in Rapid City, SD. She's 15 years old and has been home schooled her whole school life. She began taking lessons in 2013 with Kathleen Beutler, who taught her to love piano, to have excellent posture, and provided her with all of the basic skills that she would need. In 2017 she began her piano studies with Joe O'Rourke, a NY native, who saw something special in Alayna and began teaching her classical music, and who has been her teacher, her coach, and her mentor.
She fell in love with classical music and after winning her division in the state competition, she became convinced that this was the clear path for her, the path that she wanted to fulfill all of her dreams. Her passion for her music has not gone unnoticed, and she was offered an audition for Interlochen School of the Arts' summer camp series. She was selected to perform as part of the Bach Society of the Black Hills. She took first place at the MTA state piano competition at BHSU. She came in 2nd place at the Black Hills Symphony, young artists program. She plays piano and organ at her church, and she is listed as an approved accompanist for BHSU, and has worked with students and teachers there. Unfortunately, Alayna comes from a family that doesn't have a lot of money. The fees that have to be paid, for Alayna to have this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, are more than her parents are capable of handling. We are hoping that through this project, the money can be raised to send this talented young woman to Interlochen Center for the Arts. With your help, we will be able to get Alayna to the Interlochen Center for the Arts to further her education in Piano and classical music. If we meet our goal we will be able to pay for the tuition for the classes as well as transportation costs to get her there. Thank you to all that are helping us invest in our daughter.
