On March 26th at 9 PM there was a massive landslide in Alausi Ecuador. A mountain in the Chimborazo District completely buried Nueva Alausí. It covered more than 165 houses all inhabited. 100 people and counting are missing and the death toll goes up by the day.

Stefanya Guaman who works on the events team at Crown Shy + SAGA and Juan Carlos Alvarado who is part of the Crown Shy bar team have been directly affected by this natural disaster. Both are originally from the Chimborazo province in Ecuador but decided to leave their hometowns and families to move to New York. Although they left Ecuador they would still support their families from afar. Part of every paycheck earned would go to Stefanya’s son, both of their families and properties they would one day hope to own. If you have ever interacted with either of them you know they are hard workers who are always super positive and willing to help everyone.

This landslide has taken almost everything from them. The majority of Stefanya’s family is missing and her sense of hope is fading that they will be found in the rubble. Thankfully her two sisters and son made it out in time. Although they survived they lost everything and were left with only the clothes they had on the night they ran out of their home. They are currently homeless and need clothes, water and basic supplies. They need financial help. These funds will help Stefanya and Juan pay for their family's shelter, food, clothes and funeral expenses.
