Alan’s cancer journey

Alan is one of my best friends, I am godmother to their children and we often all go out together. Over the last few weeks I've been supporting the family through another traumatic event. Last year Charlene had brain surgery following a discovery of a brain tumour and then went on to have a stroke and facial palsy. It's been a tough year for the family. So the latest news just felt like such a cruel blow.

Following an enlarged lymph node in his neck Alan had a biopsy where it was confirmed he has been diagnosed with metastic squamous cell Carcinoma. He has had a pet scan to find the primary tumour, and surgery is imminent ( a neck disection) he also needs an operation to remove skin cancer under his eye next Sunday. Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy will follow.

The family have already been through so much but this is a particularly cruel blow which will not only affect them physically and mentally but will also affect them financially.

I'm hoping by starting this go fund me page it will take some of the financial burden away from them so they can concentrate on fighting this cruel disease. One in Two of us will get Cancer, it doesn't discriminate on who it comes for, but this time it has come for ine of the kindest hearted person I know. He is going to fight it with all he has but I hope this page will just help the family with additional petrol costs to appointments, to keep the house warm for Alan over the coming months without having to worry about the additional costs, he will need protein shakes as the treatment will mean he will struggle to eat, and just any other additional cost they won't have to worry over xxxx
