Alanna Jones' Walk to Recovery
Donation protected
I welcome you to meet the beautiful soul, Alanna Jones.
Alanna is a talented gymnast that loves to live life to it's fullest. Her motivation and drive radiates from her, inspiring everyone she meets. Over 3 years ago in August 2015, Alanna suffered a severe spinal cord injury that lost her the use of her arms and legs. She has since been learning to live life as a quadriplegic with the support of her family, friends and dog (Baxter).
After the accident, hundreds of generous friends, family and strangers offered donations to help her and her family cope with the costs of living. I want you to know that these donations did absolute wonders for Alanna! They helped purchase a wheelchair accessible van that allows her and Baxter to explore the world together. Now she even has a personal elevator that she can control, going straight up to her room!
...Screw you stairs >:)
In addition to the donations, Alanna also had her mom's benefits to help fund her recovery treatments. She currently attends physiotherapy and swimming, both twice a week. These sessions are greatly increasing her recovery process. She's already beginning to feel sensations throughout her entire body! See the video below of her flexing those biceps!
The costs for both treatments amount to roughly $2000 a month. And while the costs of recovery continue, her mothers medical benefits have reached their limit. Alanna has now exhausted all options for paying for these treatments. Unfortunately, the government doesn't provide funding for this rehabilitative support.
That means Alanna now needs help to raise $24,000 for at least 1 more year of physio and swimming.
There's a video below demonstrating Alanna using the new 'Lokomat'. The Lokomat is a robotic treadmill that suspends individuals while their legs are attached to robotic legs that assist with basic walking functions. We are so confident that this exercise in combination with swimming will get her walking again!
Alanna is of course too sweet to ask for money, so I offered to make this gofundme campaign in hopes we could all help her in her time of need. I ask that you consider donating to Alanna so she can continue her trip down the road to a full recovery!!!
Any size donation is incredibly generous and truly appreciated by Alanna and her family! Sharing this page is also an amazing gift!
