Alana’s Recovery

Hello, my name is Laura Rose and I am the aunt to the sweet girl pictured above. I remember her first cry the day she was born and her cute chubby cheeks. I’ve gotten to watch her grow into a vivacious, strong, out-spoken woman. She stands up for what she believes in and is an advocate for everyone around her. She’s beautiful, she’s awe-inspiring, she’s one of a kind. But this weekend, I thought we were going to lose her.

On Sunday, September 3, 2023, Alana and her younger brother, Jordan, were in a very serious accident while on vacation in South Dakota. Both were taken to the hospital, resulting in Alana being life flighted to a larger trauma center. Jordan suffered significant abrasions and lacerations to his face and leg. He was discharged that night.

Alana will be in the hospital in Sioux Falls for another week. She suffered a several broken ribs, including a shattered rib, a punctured lung with deep bruising, a liver laceration, broken scapula, compression fractures from her T3-T5, and spinous process fractures from her T4-T8 vertebrae. She has an extremely long road ahead of her and it will take 3-4 months for a full recovery.

Funds will be used to help the family during their extended stay in South Dakota and pay for the extensive medical bills. Funds will also be used to help safely transport Alana home. Helping raise funds allows the family to spend time together and focus on healing. Any help is so greatly appreciated!
