My Olympic Journey
My Olympic journey started long before this exciting summer, all the way back to when I was a young girl of 8, sitting in her 3rd grade class, writing about who I wanted to be when I grew up. I spent the first half of my life in England, where my love for sport started at the Bracknell Baseball Club.

After moving to California I played various sports and graduated from Carlsbad High School after making amazing friends there. But the highlight of my teenage years was spending my summer holidays country hopping with the Great Britain Junior National Teams. I’ve had the honor of being a part of the GB program since I was 14 and competed in several European and World Championships, including the 2017 European championship GB won, their first ever title, in Barcelona. It’s hard to believe that a goal I made 12 years ago still holds true to this day, but I have been so lucky to grow up with the lessons and opportunities this journey has brought.

Above the championship and competitions, what I value most from being apart of these tours was the connections I made with the people around the globe. I was lucky enough at a young age to be exposed to countless cultures and languages all brought together by a common love. I cherished trading shirts, sharing hotel floors, and meals with the opposing teams. Even without knowing each other’s language, we communicated regardless. These relationships I developed were all made possible by the sport I love. Standing at opening ceremonies for these championships under each of our countries flag united by a common cause made me feel more connected to the world and its people than ever before. Competitions like these are truly a place of diversity, companionship and love, but most of all peace among people from every inch of the world. And that feeling has separated international play from any other.

The road ahead is not easy but certainly within grasp. GB Softball is currently ranked 3rd in Europe. By finishing first in the European/African Championship this summer, we’ll be one of the six teams heading to the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.

So how can you help?
The training program the GB team has put together is amazing. To prepare us properly our coaches have us entered in competitions all over the world. We start in England, head to the Netherlands for training camp, to Czech Republic for the European Championships , to Vancouver for the prestigious Canada Cup, back to London, and finally to the Olympic Qualifier in Utrecht, Holland July 30 thru Aug 5 (https://olympicsoftball.wbsc.org/en/2019/e-2019-europe-africa-softball-olympic-qualifier ).

Unlike many countries, the Great Britain Women’s Team has been self funded by the players and their family, along with occasional donations. This year however we have been extremely lucky to receive partial funding from UK Sport and the National Lottery. Their generous sponsorship has made a huge impact on reducing the tour costs for each player, but with multiple tournament this year there are still some additional costs which each player will be required individually fund.

If you are able to, there are a couple ways you could help! You can make a straight donation by clicking one of the amount boxes, or you can buy a line on my back and take the journey with me! The GB team is selling fifty name slots on the back of my training jersey. Pick a number between 1 and 50 , donate that amount and I’ll wear your name proudly on my back this summer!

Thank you so much for your interest, love, and support of all forms. To all who donate I will keep you up to date on how the team is doing. Thank you for helping my dream come true and making sure the Olympic ethos continues to grow. May the Olympic Spirit be with you! Go GB!
A little bit extra
Any extra I earn will got to develop the GB softball program and bring the opportunity for other British women to participate in this great sport.
