On the evening of Saturday, September 17th, together with his family in their hotel room, Alan’s heart suddenly went into V-fib (ventricular fibrillation). With his preexisting heart conditions, it is most likely that this was triggered by a heart attack. Reports from his pacemaker reveal that the device tried to regulate his heart several times but each time the heart rate surged back into a tempo that became quickly fatal. After chest compressions by family and resuscitative care from EMTs for nearly 45 minutes, he had certainly departed this earth for his new heavenly home by 9:30 pm.
His family is most grateful for all the kind words and waves of support offered in the wake of this tragic loss. He had just weeks ago executed long-time plans for a daunting move from California to bring the family back together in Tennessee. Desperately trying to keep his health intact till they could be settled and seek additional medical help, he was less than weeks away from closing on their new home when his heart gave out.
The idea to set up this fund was spearheaded by wonderful folks from his work who wished to help from afar in all the logistical aftermath in the days to come. Between sudden costs associated with the loss of a loved one, in the middle of a move, with intent to still close on their new construction home, travel and storage during the messy “in-between”, and upcoming travel to his hometown and his family to give him an honorable ceremony… Any amount given will surely be used purposefully and with deep gratitude, while we navigate how to best move forward from loss day by day.
Alan was so loved and will be inexpressibly missed by his wife and kids, his mother and sisters, and his friends and coworkers.
If you’d like to show support in any other tangible way, please reach out. We thank you so much for all your prayers, messages, and acts of love during this heavy and hard time.
