My name is Melissa, I'm the wife of a wonderful man named Alan. On June 25th of this year I took my husband into the hospital for what we thought was "gallbladder pain" wow we're we totally wrong. The doctor came into the room we explained the symptoms to him, he thought the same thing gallbladder. So he ordered an ultrasound then ordered CT scan of his chest, blood work, etc. About 2 hours later The doctor came back into the Room and told us that the reason he had pain in his back was because it was broken on the T11 vertebrae. Then he proceeded to tell us that it looks like cancer in his lungs, his liver, his spine, and his hip. He was admitted to the hospital the following day on the 26th The oncologist came into his Room and said it definitely looks like cancer from the scans, that they would do a biopsy when they did the surgery on his back to repair it. His back surgery took place on June 30th, And the biopsy came back one week later that it was, stage 4 small cell cancer that has metastasized to the bone. There is nothing in this world that could ever prepare you to hear that. Moving forward taking one day at a time, we have been to several doctors appointments, had a port put in to be able to do chemo treatments, getting PET scans done. We received the pet scan results today on July 20th there has been several more new tumors that have popped up in different areas of his body so in short term his pet scan let up like a Christmas tree. He also started chemotherapy today July 20th. The chemotherapy regimen he is on is extremely strong. I'm now staying home full time to care for my husband, taking one day at a time, and praying for a miracle. My husband is 52 and the most hard working man I have ever met he's an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. I never thought in a million years that our world and lives would change so quickly. I will never lose hope, and I will never stop praying for a miracle.
