Hi, I am Morag McCall and with my colleague Marisha Addison, represent Jazz on a Sunday Afternoon (JOASA) in Aberdeen. As some of you will be aware, our regular monthly gigs have sadly come to an end but Marisha and I would like JOASA to be able to continue contributing to grass roots jazz provision and to establish an annual sponsorship award in the name of our very dear friend Alan King who died suddenly in 2026. The aim is to help fund a young jazz pianist to reach their full potential by providing a place at a renowned Scottish residential summer jazz course. We believe that this would be something Alan, as a very highly regarded music teacher, would approve of and it would be an honour for JOASA to help start the project by hosting a tribute concert and raising funds to ensure talented youngsters are given opportunities to pursue their passion for years to come.
