I came back from a nine month stay in Thailand and went to my annual physical at the Martinez VA clinic and of course had the fasting lab. When my doctor saw the lab results she was very concerned about the high white blood cells and the low red blood cells and immediately sent me back to the lab for more testing. Next day the pathologist calls me and informs me that I have a cute leukemia and must have emergency admission to San Francisco VA Medical Center the following day. During the past two weeks of treatment a close relative has visited me many times from Contra Costa County using Uber and also staying at the seal rock Inn closeby. Probably $1000 Uber $1000 hotel.

Whereas we do use video talks, his in person visits are very valuable for me right now.
