Having set out to raise £10K for suicide charities, and reached an absolutely astonishing £60K, we have paused donations for the time being. Thanks again to everyone. x

Alan Cowley took his own life in October 2022, leaving behind his widow Tasha, his father Peter and brother Matt, plus their families and hundreds of friends and colleagues.

Like all families who have lost a loved one to suicide, we want to do everything we can to prevent others from having to go through what we are going through. The most common cause of death of men in the UK aged between 20 and 40 is suicide.

All the money raised from this campaign will be donated (with Gift Aid) to a few organisations that particularly support young men who feel suicidal, via charities such as Papyrus, Lifecraft, Centre33 and MIND. We will provide funding updates on this Twitter account (you don't need to have a Twitter account to look at this): https://twitter.com/AlanCowleyLegcy

We want to create a legacy for Alan's tragic death by helping to reduce the stigma attached to suicide and, we hope, to save lives.

And after just four weeks, 230+ donors have contributed over £50,000!! The money is already being distributed to charity.

If you, or someone you know, needs urgent help, please contact the Samaritans on 116 123 or Google: HOPELINEUK (if you are under 35).
