This is Adrian’s story

Adrian, my godson is my sister's Claudia oldest son. She and her husband had this beautiful baby on November 2012. Around his first year, they started to notice something strange on Adrian's behavior like the poor interest on the others, low interaction, no communication, body movements like wiggling, self-harming, etc. The kindergarten teachers told his parents that Adrian wasn't ready for preschool and recommended more specialized evaluations.

Adrian was eventually diagnosed with mild autism in. After a lot of research on the subject, Adrian we started him with occupational and speech therapy and everything recommended to us searching for an "awakening" or progress. After months, no signs of progress were shown and their concern and sadness grew as they did not see any good surprises on their baby.

After almost two years of frustration and hours of more research, they heard about Robert Tamayo, a Cuban doctor treating this type of problems in Guayaquil – Ecuador.  Dr. Tamayo seems to be on of those "below the radar" professionals and all comments of people around the world were positive and encouraging. He treats children with autism, developmental delay, epilepsy and many other neurological disorders.  His technique is using pure oxygen inserted to the brain through hyperbaric chambers,  just breathing this pure oxygen revives neurons and stimulates them. The doctor uses a unique calibration and method only known by him.

On June 7th Adrian and his parents, with the effort and help of family and friends traveled to Guayaquil to meet with Dr. Tamayo. The doctor, made a complete brain mapping and diagnosed him with a brain immaturity, Alaila (the loss of the ability to speak), general delay on the regular brain development focused on the language and thinking areas. He is the only one who has rejected the autism diagnosis. Furthermore, he realized that Adrian did not hear very well as his adenoids where too big and where blocking the ventilation passage of the middle ear, making him difficult to discriminate sounds, especially the human voice and speaking. We already took his step and Adrian’s adenoids were successfully removed. This will help with the oxygen treatment also for him to breathe better.

These treatments will require for Adrian and his mother to stay for a full month to the City of Guayaquil in Ecuador. Depending on the results, we do not know yet if Adrian will require more than one month of treatments. From Dr. Tamayo’s past experience sometimes it will require sometimes up to 5 treatments.

Adrian still does not talk and he will be turning 3 in a couple of months. Although he has calmed down a bit, he cannot go to a kindergarten, or play as other children do and he is very confused about the world, his needs and how to communicate with the others. We would like to help him to have a chance to overcome this problem with these treatments, and additional occupational and speech therapies he will need to give him a chance to have access to regular education and good quality of life.

Quisiera explicarles un poco el momento por el que está pasando mi sobrino y ahijado, quien vive en Lima - Perú.

Adrián es el hijo de mi hermana menor, Claudia. Ella y su esposo tuvieron a este bello bebe en Noviembre del 2012, al cumplir 1 añito empezaron a notar algunos comportamientos extraños como el poco interés en el otro, poca interacción, comunicación nula, movimientos corporales como balanceo, se autolesionaba, etc. El nido al que iba les comentó que no estaba listo aun para ingresar y recomendaban evaluaciones especializadas. Luego de varias evaluaciones, Adrián fue diagnosticado con autismo leve en el Perú comenzando una batalla de terapias ocupacionales por tratar de "despertarlo" o ayudarlo a avanzar, todo esto fue a sus 2 años. Luego de algunos meses de terapias, no hubieron cambios significativos y la preocupación y tristeza aún estaba presente al no ver progresar al bebe.

De pronto, nos llegó el comentario acerca de un doctor cubano que radicaba en Guayaquil - Ecuador, el cual no era muy conocido públicamente pero los testimonios recogidos de todas partes del mundo eran alentadores, tratamientos para niños con autismo, atraso en el desarrollo, retrasos mentales, epilepsia y varios desórdenes neurológicos. Este doctor es Roberto Tamayo y la técnica que utiliza es bombardear de oxígeno puro el cerebro de los niños a través de cámaras hiperbáricas lo cual estimula el desarrollo y reanima neuronas por el solo hecho de respirar el oxígeno puro y este doctor usa una calibración y método únicos.

Luego de algunas gestiones Claudia, Ramiro (su papá) y Adrián pudieron acceder a un primer viaje de diagnóstico en Guayaquil, fueron de viaje del 7 al 10 de Junio de este año. El doctor le hizo un mapeo y lo diagnostico con una inmadurez cerebral, alalia (perdida de la habilidad del habla), y atraso general de desarrollo en las áreas del lenguaje y el pensamiento, el doctor cubano descarta autismo de acuerdo a su estudio y es el único hasta ahorita que les ha descartado autismo.

También detectó que tenía una mala audición debido a sus adenoides grandes que bloquean la ventilación del oído medio y mala discriminación de sonidos en especial de la voz humana. Están a punto de operarlo para sacarle los adenoides y mejore la audición, pero esta no es la raíz del problema ya que hay una inmadurez y desorden neurológico que requieren el tratamiento en Guayaquil.

Este tratamiento es de 1 mes para empezar y esto implica vivir en Guayaquil ese mes entero y todos los gastos que implica. No sabemos aún si se requerirán más meses, pero para empezar si creemos que si. Muchos comentan que serían unas 5 veces (meses) no seguidos pero si antes de los años para que el progreso sea perceptible y efectivo.

Adrián aún no habla, ya va a cumplir 3 años, si bien se ha calmado un poco, aun no puede ir a un nido, no juega como otros niños lo hacen y está muy confundido acerca de sus necesidades y como comunicarlas. Queremos ayudarle a que tenga una oportunidad de superar este problema con este tratamiento y sus terapias y pueda acceder a una educación y vida regular y de calidad.

Cualquier ayuda, por más mínima que sea, servirá para cubrir poco a poco esta oportunidad y esperanza que queremos darle a nuestro Adrián.
