On February 23rd, 2023 our friends’ life was turned upside down. He went to the Emergency Room in the early morning for what looked like a bruise on the back of his left leg and as the day progressed, his leg got worse; he was diagnosed with flesh eating disease which led to sepsis affecting his liver and kidneys. To save his life, his left leg had to be amputated almost 20 cm shy of his hip. His rate of survival was very bleak and he had to fight hard to overcome the sepsis and he won that battle. Al will have many more battles to fight on his road to recovery and he has proven to everyone that he is a fighter.
As all of his friends know, in October of 2021, Al lost his 31-year-old daughter to the drug epidemic which changed his life dramatically. His daughter left behind 3 small children who at the time were age’s newborn, 2 and 11 years old. Al has gladly stepped-up to care and raise them. He has been raising a family of 5 on a retirement income which is not easy and it has caused financial hardship.
Al is still in the hospital and has started his many months of rehab on March 20th, 2023 and he needs to focus on his health. The family is now incurring extra expenses with him being in the hospital which is causing a financial strain. Al is a very proud man and always going the extra mile to help his friends. We now ask that you consider returning the favor and helping him during his time of need.
Thanking you all in advance for your generosity and support during this difficult time.
