Alaia, a 12 year old girl, in her last year of elementary school has just began the fight of her life. She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on December 5, 2019. Sadly, this was also the same day that her grandfather passed away from cancer.
Leukemia is a cancer of the blood and Alaia’s chemotherapy treatments are extensive. She has chemo through IV, by pill, and intrathecal (injected into her spine). She suffered from a seizure that was a result of neurotoxicity from her spinal chemo and diagnosed with Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES). She later as a result of intrathecal chemo also suffered a reaction that mimicked a stroke, also caused by neurotoxicity. She, with God’s help, and the prayers of her family and friends has overcome these horrible side effects and remains brave in her battle.
Alaia’s mom Mrs Campos is a teacher at Terrace View Elementary and has been by Alaia’s side everyday of her battle. Alaia still has quite a journey in front of her, an estimated 2 years of treatment, and many people have been asking of ways to help, so let’s help this amazing family cover their medical expenses and any lost wages caused by this horrible cancer. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
