On January 16th, 2022 Al was involved in a surfing accident in January and broke his cervical spine, and drowned. Luckily, local lifeguards performed emergency life saving efforts to bring him back to life to which we are forever grateful. Unfortunately the severity of his injury left him paralyzed from the neck down.
While he’s made amazing progress and has had a few very positive updated prognoses, it will continue to be a long road to recovery. The past months have been rough, but we are all keeping faith that he will gain more mobility and independence again. Your continued prayers and support have been amazing. Thank you.
We also want to thank everyone for their initial fundraising support. The money raised through the meal train supported Al’s family in the early months in their time of need and has been used to make crucial updates around the home in order to accommodate Al’s condition with limited mobility.
It’s never easy to ask for help especially during this tumultuous time, but after calculating more costs to support Al, we are hoping those who are able can once again provide financial support. After Al is discharged from the acute rehab facility he’s at now, he will require daily in home assistance that insurance won’t completely cover. We continue to keep the faith that his healing continues and he can achieve total independence in the future. Again, any help is greatly appreciated. God bless.
