Al Mokhtar Cafe
Donation protected
We are the Younis family. Currently, we are living in Khan Younis and are sharing one bedroom between 11 family members. We have been displaced from our homes for 8 months, and have come to realize that our situation is not temporary. We have to start thinking about the long term - how to gain control back over our lives, independence, and autonomy, and how to continue to live and stay together as a family.
We are proud to share the new cafe that our family has recently opened. Here are some photos of it at the moment!

Summer is here and with it has come the heat. Standard temperatures are reaching above 30*, and there is no access to the electricity grid. The vision of the cafe is to be a small oasis amidst the heat, displacement, and constant stress. We will be using solar panels to supply electricity, enabling people to come and have a cold drink, charge their electronics, cool the mind, and connect with the outside world. Giving families the ability to charge their laptops and phones, and to have a dedicated workspace outside of our crowded, temporary homes can help regenerate other economic possibilities, as well as some sense of rest and relief.
We want to be able to stand on our own feet, not to solely depend on donations. There has been no work available during these last few months, all of our savings are burnt out on living necessities. Every product sold in Gaza is overpriced due to product shortages and high demands.
We need your help with the initial investment for our solar panels, in order to resettle into our own independence. Below is a list of estimated costs and materials that we’ll need to get started.
1 battery 200 Amber's which now cost 800$ (3000 shekels)
2 panels produce 660W each with total of 1320W- 1200$ each (4500 shekel)
Cables for connection 800$ (3000 each)
800$ commision of transfer (very high now)
total: 4800$ including commission of the transfer
Thank you for your care and kindness!
