Al Collom memorial/family support

My dad, Alvin Collom was a tough, yet deeply sensitive, funny, creative, and caring man with a wanderer's spirit, who sadly passed away at 65 years young February 5, 2017 from aggressive Lymphoma.   Although living with this diagnosis since October 2015, he remained strong in his desires to remiss and live on. Unfortunately the disease had other plans as his death came shockingly within a week and a half of a new terminal diagnosis. Despite the severity of his condition we heldfast for miracles, perhaps not garnering the big one, but cherishing all of the small ones along the way.  One of the greatest being fulfilling his wish of getting him from Colorado to California.  Surviving a 20 hour road trip on his deathbed was a feat and a testament to his will and resilliance.  He did not get to see the ocean one last time or an incredible Superbowl that even an avid Patriots foe could appreciate,  however graciously had the opportunity for closure with many of his dearest friends and family before dying peacefully surrounded by those he loved most (vice versa).

Al was a private man and would never want to burden anyone with his problems, but the truth is the family is not prepared for this tragedy.  The fact that he could not work through his illness often pained him more than that of his Lymphoma and despite his optomistic disposition was under quite a bit of monetary stress. In his life he remained selfless, offering folks the coat off of his back, an ear to listen, even giving up his own burial plot for his deceased sister years ago.

I have lovingly set up this fund for the surviving family to alleviate the stress of the costs associated with losing a loved one, as well as the compounded debts from a one income household supporting an expensive illness.  (burial costs, transportation & travel costs, and outstanding medical bills & overages, bereavement time as examples). Any consideration is appreciated -- including prayers and shares!

My greatest wish is that Al's widow & surviving family can be cleared of all debts, have adequate time off, support through the grieving process and that my dad rolls over in his minimalist casket by the extreme outpouring of kindness, love and support shown to him and his family in the wake of his sudden death.

On behalf of his widow, children, & grandchildren we thank you in advance for any contribution.

With love and gratitude,

Jamie Collom-Aleksynas
