Al Coleman Medical Fund
My name is Melissa. I’m writing on behalf of my brother.
Al Coleman is a writer, singer, tour guide, planner, sports fan, occasional trash talker, traveler, movie watcher, tennis player, Christian, brother, cousin, and friend, among many other things. He loves to laugh. He loves a good meal (whether it’s chicken wings, turkey and dressing, Mexican food, spaghetti, or a tableful of casseroles). He loves getting the latest gadgets and music/television services and sharing them with others. Al loves going to concerts and movies, even if he does often doze off soon after the lights go down. He loves spending time with his dear friends and family, including his furbaby nieces and nephews. He stays on the go, planning his next outing even before he finishes the adventure he’s on – and that is just how he likes it.
But Al has a weak heart. In 2013, he got an LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device), which is a pump in his chest that helps his heart function effectively. The pump runs on external power, so he always has a bag with his batteries with him. He has handled all that with amazing grace and positivity, continuing his work as a top tour guide in DC and other parts of the country. He’s been like a poster child for LVAD success; but his ultimate goal has always been to have a strong heart. In fact, Al underwent all sorts of tests and was steps away from being placed on the transplant list with Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.
But right now, Al Coleman is asleep in the ICU at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, and he’s fighting. He is here because problems have arisen which include bleeding in his brain and infection in his blood. He’s too weak to breathe without help right now. None of this is insurmountable, but it is a very serious battle. I told the doctor we are all praying and doing our best to get some divine help for Al and his medical team. So we are asking you to pray for Al and pray for wisdom for those working to help him get better. Please, pray.
Further, Al’s busy tour guiding season is kicking in, and he is unable to earn a living right now. But the bills keep coming … bills including his mortgage, medical bills, and health insurance, which allows for him to even have this lifesaving care – and ultimately, a new heart. Al urgently needs financial help.
Any amount you can give, big or small, will be appreciated so much. You will help make such a difference in Al’s life and in the lives of the many people who love him.
Thank you in advance for your prayers, your concern, and your generous support. May God bless you for caring.
Please share Al’s story, and help spread the word! Thank you!
*I will be managing this fund on Al's behalf.
