Help! Al and Tina’s Home Flooded in Hurricane Ian
Donation protected
Hello! I am Shallyn Hanson. My husband and I are Directors of Nomad’s Land, a traveler’s retreat. Joshua is the Director of Kingdom Promotions an organization that staffs events for nonprofit organizations, and together we travel to Rainbow Gatherings setting up a free kitchen in the woods. We’d like to fundraise for our beautiful friends Alan and Tina Nord after the unfortunate flooding of their home
Al, a Vietnam Veteran, and Tina have lived as pastors and missionaries over the course of their lives, and presently Al is a chaplain for a motorcycle club. Years ago, they dropped everything they were doing to join up with my husband‘s traveling ministry and feed people, befriend the lonely traveler and marginalized, and give their retirement years in service to others. They also traveled many times back-and-forth to Germany to mentor and love a young group of punk Christians. Presently, they live simply in Florida, just trying to enjoy life and the people around them.
As many of you know, Hurricane Ian has caused a lot of devastation in Florida. Alan and Tina were lucky in all the ways to count. Their lives and the lives of their family are just fine. However, their home, which was a cute little trailer in a 55-and-older community, was flooded. Flood damage can be devastating to a mobile home. It could take them quite a bit of time and work to get back into their house. For at least a month they expect to be displaced, while insulation, carpet, flooring, and furniture are replaced.
What is tough after flooding, is that even the things might look normal there can be mold, rot, and if sewage was involved in any of the water it is dangerous to keep certain items that could be contaminated.
They haven’t fully assessed all that needs to be done, or had a professional look at their home. All the professionals have their hands full! So things could be worse or better than expected! We hope to raise money for them to go ahead and begin putting their home back together. We’re shooting for a high number in ($10,000) in case the professionals tell them that they need to buy a new home entirely. $5000 is the goal we think would cover the best case scenario of repairs, replacement and expenses while they are displaced.
All money raised will go directly to Al and Tina Nord and used at their discretion as they put their house in order.
Thanks for your consideration and joining in!
