Help Hannah Enjoy the Beach Again
Donation protected
From the time my grandaughter Hannah was little she loved going to the beach. The day of the tragic accident that forever changed our family, Hannah and Hayden enjoyed time at the beach. Even though it was February and the water was chilly, the girls didn’t mind because the beach was their happy place. Hannah’s life changed in an instant and so many things she loved doing are no longer possible. We’ve found a way to give Hannah back one of the things she loved – the beach – but we need your help. A traditional beach wheelchair won’t work for Hannah because she needs to recline. A recent story about Tybee Island, Georgia’s efforts to improve accessibility featured a beach wheelchair perfect for Hannah. A few phone calls later, I spoke to someone at the company in Delray Beach, FL who manufactures the chairs. This chair would allow her to be easily transported across the sand or mats to the waters edge and even allow her to float in a pool or other calm water.
This is where you can help. As you might imagine, such a specialized chair is expensive. To save the cost of shipping ($500), we will drive to Delray Beach to pick up the chair but we need help with the cost, which is around $3,000. Any donation is appreciated. Help us get Hannah back doing something she loves – spending time at the beach – a small pleasure we all take for granted that she no longer has the ability to enjoy. All donations are appreciated.
