Hi, my name is Kaitlin and my poor little Akya was in a freak accident at daycare. She has FCE (fibrocartrlaginou embolism) from T9-L1 in her spinal cord. It was a blunt force trauma to her back and she will be paralyzed for the rest of her life. She is 2 years old, she loved running and daycare was her favorite place to go. She has a brother named Bandit who is very confused on what’s going on, but he’s getting used to it. We have to help her go to the bathroom since she is not able to do it on her own. Her vet bills are very expensive and working is going to be a challenge for a couple weeks until we’re all in a routine. She is such a loving, strong, and social dog and she deserves the best life anyone could have. We are going to give her the best shot at a fantastic life and have her walk again with a wheelchair. We’re not asking for someone to donate a lot, but a little goes a long way and anything will help tremendously. She’s my baby and I absolutely adore her and will do anything in my power to give her the best she can have. She’s still herself, she is adapting to this way better than what I expected. She still gets to play and be a dog.
