Help Save Turkey’s Street Animals — Support Beria’s Lifesaving Work

Hi, my name is Su Beyazit, and I’m the founder of Su’juk . I’m hosting this fundraiser to support my cousin, Beria Atamtürk, and her rescue organization, Akyaka Street Animals , in southwestern Turkey. This cause is deeply personal to me—my cousin has been rescuing dogs and rehabilitating or re-homing them since before I can remember.

But today, the need is more urgent than ever. A newly passed law in Turkey is calling for the mass removal of street dogs, placing them into overcrowded, underfunded shelters—or worse. In some areas these dogs are being collected by the masses and being left in open fields with no food, shelter or water resulting in mass killings. As someone born in Turkey, I find this especially heartbreaking. Street dogs have always been an integral part of Turkish life—gentle, loyal companions that live among us and are cared for by the community. This law doesn’t just threaten their lives—it feels like it’s erasing part of who we are. That’s why I’m turning to you, through my business and my voice, to help protect them. In the face of this crisis, independent rescuers like Beria are often the only hope these animals have.

Beria and her husband Deniz have been rescuing, treating, and caring for abandoned and injured animals in Turkey for over 25 years through their grassroots effort, Akyaka Street Animals. They currently care for over 30 dogs and 8 cats at their home—many with chronic or life-threatening conditions—and support many more in nearby villages and forests. She is the real deal and has been mostly doing this out of pocket with little to no outside support.

But the situation has become overwhelming. Out of sheer desperation—and for the first time in all her years of doing this work—Beria recently reached out to me for help. She is currently over $10,000 in debt with her local veterinary clinics and urgently needs funds to continue providing medical care. To make matters worse, fundraising or crowdfunding in Turkey is heavily restricted without legal permission, leaving her with very few options to ask for help. That’s why we’re turning to you.

To support her urgent work, my company Su’juk will be leading this fundraiser, accepting donations both in-stores and online. 100% of funds raised will go directly toward medical care, food, shelter, and rehabilitation for animals in need.

Your donation will directly support:

•⁠ ⁠Emergency surgeries and treatments (for cases like traffic accidents, gunshot wounds, mange, parvo, distemper, and more)

•⁠ ⁠Routine medical care (spaying, neutering, vaccinations, parasite control)

•⁠ ⁠Ongoing medication for chronic illnesses (heart disease, heartworm, leishmania, spondylitis, cancer, etc.)

•⁠ ⁠Food and shelter for approximately 30 dogs and 8 cats currently living at our home

•⁠ ⁠Rehabilitation and special needs care for elderly and disabled animals (blind dogs, amputees, dogs with lifelong medical needs)

How Many Animals Are Being Helped?

Currently, Akyaka Street Animals provides full-time care to 30 dogs and 8 cats in Beria and Deniz’s private home. Beyond that, they support over hundreds of dogs living in the streets, forests, and nearby villages—providing food, spaying and neutering, medical care, and rescue when needed. And have personally rescued over 1000 dogs— with many successfully adopted into forever homes, particularly in Europe..

I know there are countless causes in the world right now asking for your attention and support. The need can feel overwhelming. But I want to emphasize: your generosity can help save lives- no contribution is too small—every dollar counts.
